Tanjiro made the perfect candidate for becoming the next leader of demons, or, the “King of Demons.” Firstly, he shared blood with Nezuko, which would allow him to stand in the sun. Secondly, he practiced Sun Breathing like Yoriichi, which would make him even more powerful. Therefore, Tanjiro as a demon would be the most powerful demon to have ever existed.
The most frequent answer is; after being turned into a demon by Muzan, Tanjiro is able to heal the growth on his face as well as regenerate his lost arm and other smaller injuries.
Tanjiro became a demon at some point in the series. This happened in Chapter 201 of the manga, which is near the end of the series. Tanjiro’s transformation into a demon occurred right after the battle against Muzan.
