Yeah, you read that right. Tanjiro does turn into a demon! This was something that perhaps no one saw coming, and with Tanjiro being the most powerful demon the chances of him turning back seemed bleak ! Thankfully, our characters got the happy ending they deserved (but at what cost?).
But when he grabbed onto it, it became a fully black sword that seemed to carry a strange stigma with it. It was implied that Tanjiro’s black sword would become a hindrance to his fighting the demons (as it was implied that those with black swords don’t live for long), but the new movie dug into the main weakness of this unique blade color.
One theory suggests that Tanjiro’s sword turned black as an analogy to charcoal, which ties into Tanjiro’s past job selling charcoal. Another theory (which contains spoilers for the manga) suggests that black blade users are users of the Breath of the Sun style.
Does tanjiro use rengoku’s sword?
Tanjiro does keep Rengoku’s little charm piece that was one his sword though., and he doesn’t. His lovely smithee: Haganezuka just makes him a new one (after death threats and chasing him around with knives—).

If you noticed the earrings that Tanjiro was wearing, it is actually a family heirloom that was passed down from his father . Coincidentally, Yoriichi also sports the same hanafuda earrings as Tanjiro.
Then, what did yoriichi do to muichiro sword?
The chosen answer was yoriichi Type Zero moves into a stance. While they chat during a walk through the forest, they encounter Muichiro again who expresses that the training was helpful; however, his sword broke, so he will be taking one of the doll’s swords. He tosses the broken sword indifferently to Tanjiro, asking him to discard it.
This of course begs the question “Is yoriichi a good swordsman?”
I discovered in a short amount of time, Yoriichi soon became a very powerful and skilled swordsman among the Demon Slayer Corps. His impeccable speed also attributes to how well he can handle a sword in the field. Even during his fight with Muzan, he was able to nearly injure him with just his blade.
What you may not know is that the place where the mark turns out to be the exact same place that Tanjiro has his mark. Even though they both have distinct colors, Yoriichi and Tanjiro’s marks are what symbolizes them as strong demon slayers. Each of these marks is unique, just like the Breathing Style that each swordsman possesses.
Does Tanjiro die in Demon Slayer?
Tanjiro actually died in Demon Slayer. It was also confirmed during the post-timeskip events of the series that Tanjiro has already deceased. His death was also confirmed during the aftermath of the final battle when his pulse was checked by some of the surviving members of the Hashira.
Tanjiro turns into a demon because of Muzan’s blood inside him. The survivors try to survive against him and in a sacrificial move, Kanao used her remaining eye to activate Scarlet Spider Lily Eyes. Her enhanced speed allowed her to inject the demon antidote and return him to being human.
